Adoption Programme
This site lists older Beagles that need to find new homes. Some, for a variety of personal reasons, can no longer stay with their owners. Others have been rescued from the Pound and are now being fostered through the Club. We simply put people keen to adopt a Beagle in touch with owners (or foster owners) needing to find a new home for their pet.
Any Beagle fostered by the club is vet checked to ensure it is in good health, fully vaccinated and assessed by their foster family to determine their suitability for adoption and the type of home that would best suit the nature of the Beagle. Foster Beagles are available for an adoption fee.

Interested in making a donation?
If you would like to make a donation to the Club's Beagle Rescue Fund all donations get put to good use. Donations help the Club to assist Beagles that may need emergency Veterinary treatment or assist with the cost of fostering Beagles (vet fees, feeding costs etc).

If you would like to know more about a listed Beagle either contact the owner at the email address (or phone number) listed with the Beagle's details or, if there are no contact details shown, email the Beagle Rescue Coordinator.

Need to find a good home for your Beagle?
We are happy to help you find a new home if you are unable to keep you Beagle for any reason. We can do this in 3 ways:
To help you do this we will send you a list of questions to ask potential new owners. It is also a good idea to think about the points listed below to ensure that you give your Beagle the best possible new home and ease his or her transition.

The Beagle Club does not evaluate dogs for re-homing or the suitability of potential owners enquiring about Beagles. The Club accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of any information provided, the appropriateness of potential owners or the suitability of the home you choose.
There is no time limit. Your Beagle's details will stay on the site until you advise he/she has found a home or the listing is no longer needed.

- what area you live in
- what sort of dog you think would fit in well with your family and life style
- the composition of your family including the ages of any children
- if you have previously owned a Beagle
- if you currently own a dog or cat. If so include some details about the character of your dog
- if you section is fenced and property is secure
- if anyone in the family is home during the day
- if you are willing to meet the cost of transporting a Beagle if the dog of your choice is living in a different area.

Need to find a good home for your Beagle?
We are happy to help you find a new home if you are unable to keep you Beagle for any reason. We can do this in 3 ways:
- we can put you in contact with people who have registered an interest with us in adopting a Beagle. This service is free of charge
- we can also advertise a Beagle for re-homing on this site and in the next copy of the Club's newsletter. There is no charge for Beagle Club members however a donation of around $20 is requested from non-members*
- if re-homing is urgent we may be able to foster your beagle and manage the process of finding him/her a good home. (usually this is only done in exceptional circumstances).
To help you do this we will send you a list of questions to ask potential new owners. It is also a good idea to think about the points listed below to ensure that you give your Beagle the best possible new home and ease his or her transition.
- think carefully about the character of your Beagle
- think about the home that would ideally suit you dog
- be clear about what features would definitely NOT suit your Beagle
- never compromise, your owe it to your Beagle to place him or her in the most suitable home possible
- in any new home an adult must take the ultimate responsibility of your Beagle's life with enthusiasm
- check how much time the potential new owner can spend with your Beagle. It is not ideal if you are told your pet is intended for the children – they can loose interest
- an interactive guardian is more important than the size of the back yard
- be fussy, no Beagle should ever be left 24/7 in a back yard, chained or caged. You will find the right home with patience
- you may need to bide your time and wait until the right home becomes available
- ensure that when your Beagle goes to his or her new home you also send along their bed and any favourite toys as these will have familiar smells and provide some comfort for the dog
- we would strongly suggest that you do not give your Beagle away. If someone is willing to pay for him/her (even if only a small amount) they are more likely to genuinely want him/her.

- contact details of person listing Beagle
- reason for Beagles to be needing a new home (e.g. marriage breakup, change of residential circumstances, inability to cope, dogs temperament etc)
- name, age, sex, and colour of Beagle (tricolour or tan and white)
- whether your Beagle is entire or neutered/spayed
- whether your Beagle is council registered and/or microchipped
- name of breeder (where known)
- at least one recent photo of your Beagle
- some details about the character of your Beagle
- any temperament problems
- any health issues, allergies or sensitivities
- if your Beagle been socialized with other dogs and/or cats
- if your Beagle has been allowed indoor and is toilet trained
- any training your Beagle has had
- date of last veterinary visit and weather vaccinations, worm treatment and flea treatment are up to date
- all health issues need to be disclosed, vet records will be required.
